Your P6 Actual Duration is Wrong and This is How to Fix It

As-Built schedules are very important project records as they can be used in Delay Claims disputes, generating Norms or Production Rates and benchmarking future project activities hence why a lot of emphasis is placed on activities having accurate actual dates and actual duration. But Primavera P6 users need to pay attention to their User Preferences, else they will be recording wrong actual duration for activities.

P6 Multilevel Activity Codes Tips

Primavera P6 allows us to nest activity code values into sub-levels but while there might be reasons to want to use P6 activity codes nesting feature, I'm not a fan as nesting introduces WBS type rigidity to activity codes. Happy New Year

Happy New Year! 2016 was an exciting but challenging year and I'm glad we all made it to 2017. Wishing you all the best  this year and may 2017 be a fulfilling and rewarding year. One of the good things about 2016 for me was this blog, though I started it in the last days of 2015, it really gained grounds in 2016. All your messages have really met a lot and I can confidently say I have made some good friends from this blog.

Last week, I showed how to prepare an Activity Statistics Summary Schedule in Primavera P6 and today I present the Microsoft Project version of the quick tip. Unlike P6, Microsoft Project does not have inbuilt Number of Activities fields, so this tip shows a workaround.

Quick Tip: Sorting by Start Dates in P6

Sorting by start dates in Primavera P6 is quite easy but there are times when two activities with same start dates but different finish dates are not sorted in the desired order. This quick tip looks at the problem and how to resolve it.
